I saw a used 251 in a store today for $6 so I picked it up, but still I highly doubt that'd be enough if I want new save files for all my games.ģ) Can I trust the game, Monkey Ball 2? I mean, will it do this to another card too if I keep playing? Is this a known problem I should have known to avoid somehow? Can I trust it on a 251? I had like 800 blocks on that card and though some were duplicates I don't mind losing (for instance the 35 or 40 Tales of Symphonia files, I saved into a new file every time I saved and never got around to deleting them, and I really wasn't going to replay that again I think.), that's still a lot more than I'll fit on a half-full 251.

until this happened, for whatever reason.ġ) Is there anything I can do to save anything on the card? I assume no, but have to ask.Ģ) Can I trust the card again, if I reformat it and such? If not I'll need several more memory cards. I got this one used in late 2006 after my launch system DRE'd in mid 2006, and it's been fine, I think. oh, and I haven't been using the GC much for some time. That's nice, it's probably my most-played game on the system.)Īlso, it has been quite hot this week, upper 80s to low 90s, but it's been that hot plenty of times before, so this shouldn't matter. and for some reason there was a copy of my CvS2 file on the card. At least I didn't lose F-Zero GX (because it couldn't be transferred it had to stay on the 251) and some of the files from my most recent Skies of Arcadia game, though. (If the card is indeed unrecoverable I lost so many save files though, going back all the way to when I got the system at launch.

That card is fine, which means that instead of losing ALL of my saves for all of my Gamecube games, I lost only maybe 75% of them. I have two other cards, the 59 I got at launch and haven't used in years (it's blank now evidently, I wonder if it erased itself because of not being plugged in for too long or if I deleted everything and don't remember?), and a 251 that I kept plugged into slot 2. Second, I've had the card since I got it new shortly after the 1019 cards were released in 2003 or 2004 or whenever it was. I heard recently of the 'Wiis overheating 1019s and corrupting them' issue, but if this card has ever been in a Wii it was months ago or more, I'm just talking about the GC.

So, first: I'm talking about the Memory Card 1019, played on a Gamecube, not a Wii. This was a couple of days ago, but nothing has changed, the card seems to be completely corrupt and it asks me to format it. The Gamecube's plugged into a surge protector as well, the same one my computer is plugged into, so I doubt there was any power problem. (Note - I had not turned off the system in this period, and hadn't removed the card either. So I got Super Monkey Ball 2 used a few days ago, started playing, saved (it saved fine), kept playing, saved again, and it said that my card was corrupt.
